“... vị thần nhân từ mà tất cả các nghệ sĩ nên cầu nguyện để được bảo vệ khỏi sự vô vị” - đó là cách Claude Debussy kính cẩn nghiêng mình trước Johann Sebastian Bach. Quả thực, âm nhạc của Bach dưới lăng kính của Debussy luôn hàm chứa sự vĩnh cửu: trên mỗi trang bản thảo, ta luôn bắt gặp sự tươi mới nguyên sơ, từ những đường nét giai điệu uyển chuyển đầy mê hoặc cho đến những xúc cảm tôn giáo thiêng liêng và mãnh liệt.

Tinh thần bất diệt ấy chính là linh hồn của The Music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Vol. 2. Khán giả sẽ được đắm chìm trong Tổ khúc cho Dàn nhạc số 2 giọng Si thứ (BWV 1067), tác phẩm được tái hiện theo phiên bản gốc với sự kết hợp kinh điển giữa Flute, Dàn dây và bè Continuo. Ngay sau đó là bản Concerto giọng Rê thứ cho 2 Violin (BWV 1043R), chuyển soạn cho Violin và Cello, nơi cuộc giao duyên giữa Violin và Cello vượt thoát khỏi những quy tắc đối vị nghiêm cẩn để thăng hoa cùng phần Cadenza lần đầu tiên được trình diễn - một minh chứng sắc nét cho sức sống đương đại và vẻ đẹp vượt thời gian của âm nhạc Bach.

Phần hai của đêm nhạc, lần đầu tiên tại Việt Nam, bản Concerto giọng La thứ cho Flute, Violin và Piano (BWV 1054) sẽ vang lên, dệt nên bức tranh âm thanh đa sắc từ sự trong trẻo của Flute, nét sắc sảo của Violin đến sự vững chãi, uy nghi của Piano. Và khép lại hành trình di sản này là không gian suy tư với Concerto giọng Đô thứ cho 2 Piano (BWV 1060) - một cuộc đối thoại triết lý đầy chiều sâu giữa hai nghệ sĩ độc tấu và dàn nhạc thính phòng.

“...a benevolent god to whom all musicians should offer a prayer to defend themselves against mediocrity” - such was the reverence Claude Debussy held for Johann Sebastian Bach. Indeed, through Debussy’s lens, Bach’s music embodies eternity: on every manuscript page, we encounter a pristine freshness, ranging from sinuous, enchanting melodic lines to profound and intense religious fervor.

This immortal spirit constitutes the very soul of The Music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Vol. 2. The audience will be immersed in the Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor (BWV 1067), performed in its original instrumentation featuring the classic union of flute, strings, and continuo. Following this is the Concerto in D minor for 2 Violins (BWV 1043R), arranged here for violin and cello. The interplay between the two instruments transcends the strict rules of counterpoint to soar with a newly premiered Cadenza - a vivid testament to the contemporary vitality and timeless beauty of Bach’s music.

Opening the second half and premiering in Vietnam, the Concerto in A minor for Flute, Violin and Piano (BWV 1054) weaves a polychromatic sonic tapestry, blending the purity of the flute, the brilliance of the violin, and the majestic solidity of the piano. Concluding this journey through heritage is the Concerto in C minor for 2 Pianos (BWV 1060) - a profound, philosophical dialogue between the two soloists and the orchestra.
The program brings together distinguished artists, including Terri Sundberg (flute), Chuong Vu (violin), Bui Ha Mien (cello), Nguyen Huy Phuong (piano), Nguyen Trinh Huong (piano), and Tran Thi Tam Ngoc (piano), alongside the Vietnam Classical Players and guest under the baton of Nguyen Phu Son (conductor/harpsichord) and guest concertmaster Phan To Trinh.

This concert is co-organized by the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Saigon Chamber Music Society, with the valuable support of the UNT College of Music, Vietnam Connection Music Festival (VNCMF), International Chamber Players (ICP), Saigon Classical, and Viet Thuong.
